Craniosacral therapy encourages the body's natural healing mechanisms to improve the functioning of the central nervous system, dissipate the negative effects of stress and enhance health and resistance to disease. It is a gentle, non-invasive method and generally only 5 grams of pressure is applied, roughly the weight of a nickel, to test for restrictions in various parts of the craniosacral system.

I use a light touch to assist the natural movement of fluid within the craniosacral system. This system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth - which make up the cranium - down to the sacrum or tailbone. This is the core of your entire body's functions.

Since this system influences the development and function of the brain and spinal cord, any imbalance or dysfunction in the craniosacral system could cause sensory, motor or neurological disabilities. These problems may include chronic pain, headaches, (a great technique for people who suffer with migraines) TMJ, eye difficulties, scoliosis, motor-coordination impairments, learning disabilities, and other dysfunctions of the central nervous system.

This technique helps your body let go of the traumas it has sustained. This is also a wonderful therapy for mothers before and after childbirth. This is also a very beneficial therapy for newborns that helps to gently realign your baby after birth.

I have successfully completed specialized courses in Craniosacral Therapy through the renowned Upledger Institute, Inc. based in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Neuromuscular Therapy

This massage is a soft-tissue manipulation which helps to restore proper body mechanics. I work with you to gauge the amount of pressure needed, whether it is using lighter techniques or more deep tissue work to meet your body's postural requirements. This type of massage is great for individuals who experience chronic tension. It is also used to release tight muscles, rebuild the strength of injured tissues, assist venous and lymphatic flow and restore postural alignment, proper biomechanics and flexibility to the muscles.

Healing Stone Massage

This style of massage uses stones from the earth to return the body back to balance. In this technique I heat stones to a temperature that is comfortable for your body. The hot stones aid in releasing muscle tension and increases circulation throughout the body. This innovative massage is grounding and reconnects you with the Earth.

Swedish Massage

Also known as a Relaxation Massage, a Swedish massage is designed to relax the muscles and also energize the body by increasing circulation. The many benefits may include general relaxation, decreasing of scar tissue adhesions and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury. I use a variety of massage techniques to return muscles to their optimal state.

Aromatherapy

The use of essential oils (which are extracted from herbs, flowers, resin, woods and roots) has been used as a healing technique for over 1000 years. Each of the oils has its own unique characteristics and benefits and when integrated with your massage effects healing on many sensory levels. If requested I will use Aromatherapy to enhance the healing benefits of your massage.

Reiki/Energy Work

This gentle treatment assists the client in balancing their energy flow. Emphasis is given to the chakras and the joints, leaving you feeling at peace and at home in your body, with less pain, increased mobility and greater range of motion. As a Certified Reiki Master & Teacher, I channel universal life force energy (also known as healing or loving energy) to enable you to make whatever changes toward balance you deem necessary. Please ask about upcoming Reiki classes!
